Parents and children like to take home bookcases. For two weeks they can enjoy the 4-5 books inside. Then they choose one book to make a little book report about. The children can "read" his or her book and show their project about the book to the class. They and their parents have done an awesome job together. Above are a few of the projects done in this month's book case reports.

Today we had the annual Rivergate Veteran's Day program. Many parents, grandparents, community people and veterans attended to listen to the children sing patriotic songs, recite poems, and in various ways honor God and country. My first kindergarten class is now in eighth grade. I really enjoy watching "my kids" grow and develop through the years with each of my capable collegues. This year's class sang "God Bless America" with great clarity and gusto. This program is one of the highlights of the year at Rivergate. My class voted by secret ballot for president today. When the vote was counted Barack Obama had 10 votes and John McCain had 9 votes. I wonder if that is any indication about how the real election results will be. Anyway I hope that they got a start in the voting process and will decide to be active voters when they grow up. |
